The 2024 European Parliament (EP) elections in Slovenia were won by the largest right-wing opposition party, while the results of the centre-left coalition were marred by slow progress on socio-economic reforms in the middle of the legislature and the polarising narrative of geopolitical conflicts that contributed to a dispersion of votes for progressive lists. The main aims of this chapter are to locate the EP elections within specific socio-economic and political factors in Slovenia, offer an overview of the electoral system rules, analyse the engagement of outgoing Slovenian MEPs vis-à-vis the media coverage, and assess the result by reflecting on the 2019 EP elections.
