The article presents the results of a comprehensive study on noise pollution in the urban environment of Zhytomyr, focusing specifically on road transport, which is identified as the primary source contributing to elevated noise levels. Noise data were collected and analyzed using contour mapping to assess the spatial distribution and intensity of noise across different areas, identifying the city’s most affected zones. Measurements were taken at peak and off-peak times to provide a more accurate representation of noise variations throughout the day. These values were then compared to acceptable noise standards, revealing zones where levels exceed safe limits, thus posing potential health risks to local residents. Based on these findings, a series of noise-mitigation recommendations were developed, including the installation of noise barriers, adjustments to urban planning, and the enforcement of speed limits, particularly for heavy vehicles. This research underscores the need for robust noise control policies to enhance urban living conditions and safeguard public health by minimizing environmental noise impacts.
