Ensuring the effective post-war recovery of Ukrainian cities is crucial for the successful recover of the Ukrainian economy. Given the influence of globalization and the significant role of the smart city concept in today’s economically sustainable development landscape, the post-war recovery of Ukrainian cities must be approached comprehensively. This approach should consider sustainable development principles, incorporate smart city components, and respect the unique aspects of Ukrainian society. Adequate financial resources are essential for the successful recovery of Ukrainian cities. They not only enable a swift response to pressing needs and the maintenance of social stability, but also drive economic development. Furthermore, these resources facilitate effective planning and implementation of projects aimed at restoring, developing, and modernizing urban infrastructure in line with contemporary standards. This article aims to identify strategies, directions, and means of financially supporting the post-war restoration of Ukrainian cities while considering the principles and objectives of sustainable development. The article explores the state of development of smart city systems, outlines the specific challenges of post-war recovery in the context of sustainable development, and suggests the primary components of smart recovery for these cities. Additionally, the article identifies key strategies, directions, and means of securing financial resources to ensure the successful implementation of Ukrainian urban recovery projects in line with sustainable development principles.
