The Bangladeshi software industry faces challenges in achieving consistent project success despite improvements in development methodologies. This paper develops a model to measure project performance using software life cycle metrics. The literature demonstrates that metrics including budget, effort, schedule, customer satisfaction and product quality are frequently used to evaluate the execution of projects. The proposed model focuses on key processes such as planning, design, coding, testing and delivery, emphasising initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and post-release activities. The model calculates a project success score for better consistency using the Analytical Hierarchy Process and geometric least squares method. Validation in Bangladeshi software organizations shows that initiation and planning phases contribute 25.26%, and 33.24% respectively to project success. The execution, monitoring and post-release phases consist for 19.64, 9.69 and 6.18%. This model provides a precise, comprehensive method for evaluating project performance which facilitates better decision-making and ongoing development of software project management.
