Sixty percent of the Indian population lives in rural areas, but they lack health care facilities like high-quality diagnostics and specialist’s opinions. There are only 20,000 trained radiologists being concentrated mainly in larger cities and towns, for a population of 1.4 billion. X-ray or radiography is vital to provide quality results for better treatment where rural diagnostic centers lack the complete X-ray machine. Only the processing unit is used, and the film drying is a manual process. The manual drying unit is an age-old methodology to dry a film where the final image is dried in open air depending on the skill of the technician. On the other hand, the fully automatic x-ray machines (integrated in the processor) are known for their quality image, but they are too expensive for small hospitals and diagnostic centers to afford. This study addresses the requirement of a better-quality dryer at an affordable price and faster drying capability. The new dryer can be distributed in primary healthcare centers, private diagnostic centers, and government hospitals under the policy of the government and in public–private partnerships to boost the ecosystem. This helps to address the two biggest challenges—affordability and accessibility—affecting rural healthcare.
