Exposure to potentially traumatic events and subsequent posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are major contributors to the global burden of disease. At the same time, individuals in low and middle income countries (LMIC’s), and those in low resource settings within high income countries have inadequate access to mental health care. Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) has been adapted for diverse settings and patient populations and has been found to reduce both primary outcomes of PTSD and depression, and secondary outcomes. However, to do so, it is important that providers be able to appropriately tailor CPT based on context and culture, without diluting essential elements of PTSD. The aim of this chapter is to help bridge this gap in the provision of CPT for providers treating diverse patients coping with PTSD.

摘要
