Background: Social entrepreneurship (SE) fosters social cohesion, enhances social capital, and ensures the sustainability of small ventures. SE, especially in the field of tourism, promotes sustainable development because it empowers local communities and serves as a valuable tool for policymakers, entrepreneurs, and organizations seeking to understand and leverage the power of actor networks. This chapter sheds light on the challenges faced by tourism social entrepreneurs and highlights the positive outcomes they achieve through innovative approaches. Objective: To examine the role of tourism social entrepreneurship in sustainable local development and impact. Methods: Data were collected from 35 tourism-registered business respondents using open-ended questions. Content and thematic techniques were used to analyze the data. Results: The findings highlight the growing recognition of social entrepreneurship as a business model among tourism practitioners because it prioritizes the creation of actor networks as driving forces for social change. This chapter contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence of the significance of social entrepreneurship in the field of tourism in addressing societal and small venture challenges in the quest for sustainability and impact.
