Percutaneous left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) is a widespread procedure for the prevention of thromboembolic risk in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) and contraindications, complications, or ineffectiveness of anticoagulant therapy. Since commercial approval, despite rapid growth, procedural complication rates are actually very low. In this context all the interventional cardiologists facing this procedure should be familiar with all the tips and tricks necessary for obtaining procedures with high success and low complication rates. To achieve this goal, correct pre-procedural planning, knowledge of the materials, the devices and implantation techniques currently used as well as identification and treatment of post-procedural complications are required.
