The London Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is in an unparalleled position for the capture of Londoners’ perceptions around policing and crime, with unique access to robustly captured views of members of the public, victims of crime, and other cohorts. The voice of Londoners is captured via a suite of public perception and victim satisfaction surveys, supplemented with bespoke data collection as and when policy need arises. The insight gained from data capture via these tools supports the Mayor’s Police and Crime Plan for London and helps inform the work of the Metropolitan Police Service. Without these surveys, policing in London would be missing a robust picture over the last two decades of how perceptions and experiences around policing and crime have changed. This chapter will explore the suite of survey tools available at MOPAC, how they have adapted over time to ensure the voice of Londoners remains at the heart of decision-making and oversight, and how insights from the surveys are used across MOPAC and the Metropolitan Police Service.

摘要
