Infusing Cutting-Edge Computing Algorithms with Crime Data for Policy Evidence Through Partnership with King’s College London
摘要
In this chapter, we discuss important aspects of the interaction between the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) and King’s College London. We hope that by doing so, we can demonstrate mutual benefits of partnerships between universities and these organisations. From the point of view of the university, partner organisations, such as MOPAC, provide a wealth of opportunities for training: they can expose students to real-world problems, facilitate access to datasets for analyses, give seminars, etc. Equally, partner organisations can reap multiple benefits: they can get access to academics with specific expertise, interact early with highly skilled students who will enter the workforce, benefit from cutting-edge research being conducted at university, and obtain insights from analyses done as part of requirements to university training activities.
