Genetic modification and biotechnology are cutting-edge disciplines that have significantly advanced a variety of fields, including environmental science, medicine, and agriculture, by modifying genetic material using the ideas of molecular biology. Genetic alteration involves modifying an organism’s DNA to impart desirable traits through techniques such as recombinant DNA technology and CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing. Food security and sustainable farming practices are supported by genetically modified organisms (GMOs), which increase crop resilience to pests, diseases, and climate change. Through the creation of biopharmaceuticals, gene therapies, and customized medicine, biotechnology is employed in medicine to help address genetic issues that were previously incurable. Biotechnology and genetic modification face a number of challenges despite its potential, including unequal access, safety issues, and moral quandaries. Public opinion and legal frameworks have a significant impact on the adoption and use of these technologies. The off-target impacts of gene editing and the high costs of biotechnology research are examples of technical limitations that present challenges that must be addressed.
