The American Experiment with constitutional democracy has many proud accomplishments. It has expanded from 13 original states to 50 states; achieved universal suffrage for its citizens; abolished slavery and overcame a bitter civil war between North and South. It has encouraged a free-market economic system that has produced greater economic prosperity than any other large nation. And it is improving its judicial process toward the goal of achieving equal justice under the laws.
