This chapter deals with the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in cancer screening, with a special focus on the European-funded INCISIVE project. This project aimed to develop an AI toolbox to detect cancer through the advancement of AI technologies across breast, lung, colorectal, and prostate cancers. The breakthrough of AI in healthcare and its potential contributions are well known. However, the challenges in accurate screening and precise evaluations remain unresolvable questions among patients, clinicians, and the entire healthcare system. To find an answer to this, structured and systematic methodologies including legal considerations were considered to develop AI services within the INCISIVE. These INCISIVE AI services were developed based on the healthcare professionals’ perspectives from various workshops. This resulted in the development of 15 AI models integrated as AI services in the INCISIVE AI Toolbox. Furthermore, this chapter discusses the objective evaluation (observational study) and the assessment of user experience (feasibility study) of the INCISIVE AI services. The findings reveal that INCISIVE has the potential to revolutionize cancer; however, there are areas which require improvement for widespread clinical integration.

摘要
