This study aims to elucidate the utilization of mobile journalism by journalists in news gatherings, production, and distribution, as well as to investigate the motivations and gratifications derived from its use. The research seeks to comprehend the application of mobile journalism in journalistic practice, including usage patterns, motivations, and factors that drive journalists to adopt this medium. Furthermore, it examines the impact of mobile journalism on journalistic practices, particularly in terms of audience engagement and the efficiency of news production and distribution. The study also aims to identify the types of mobile journalism applications preferred by journalists and the primary activities they conduct through these platforms. This research falls within the category of descriptive studies, employing a media survey methodology. Data collection was conducted through personal interviews and a questionnaire distributed to a purposive sample of 200 individuals representing the study’s target population. The sample comprised journalists in Baghdad who exclusively use mobile journalism. Baghdad was selected as it represents a diverse cross-section of Iraqi journalists from various governorates with different characteristics. The study yielded several significant findings, the primary reason for communicators to use mobile journalism is the reduction of effort, time, and equipment requirements, with this factor accounting for 20% of responses, equal to the percentage citing speed and immediacy in obtaining information. and the most significant gratification derived from mobile journalism for communicators is the ability to share information and directly interact with the audience, with 96% of respondents citing this factor. This result differs from the findings of Suha Mohammed Ismail’s 2014 study.
