The Pelvis and Perineum
摘要
As an introduction to the pelvic region, imagine the bony pelvis like a bucket, and into this bucket we drop a funnel. But then underneath the funnel, we are going to add an extra layer of support. The sides of the bucket are the bony pelvis and the obturator internus. The funnel is the muscular pelvic diaphragm. And the extra layer of support under the pelvic diaphragm is the urogenital diaphragm. The space between the pelvic diaphragm and the urogenital diaphragm is the ischiorectal fossa. And within this fossa, on the medial wall of the obturator internus is the pudendal canal, housing the pudendal nerve and internal pudendal artery and vein.
