Brief Psychotherapies and Existential Psychotherapies: An Overview
摘要
This chapter summarizes Brief Existential Psychotherapy (BEP), which merges models and methods of brief, crisis-centered psychotherapies and existential meaning-centered psychotherapies. It is indicated for the treatment of acute and chronic psychic and somatic disorders secondary to life stress events. It is not indicated for the treatment of personality disorders or others where deep long-term restructuring is implemented. BEP is based on stress and psychobiology theory, on an experience-centered approach according to Minkowski, and on a therapeutic relationship seen as an existential encounter between two people; furthermore, it focuses on the temporal view of the life trajectory, operates through new existential concepts (existential empathy, cognition, and existential insight, etc.), the teaching of thoughts that counter anxiety (anxiolytic thoughts), depression (antidepressant ), and others. Since stress and mental disorders involve the brain and body, it uses bodily interventions.
