Q methodology was invented to explore the subjectivity of inner thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Thus, Q methodology allows young children to participate in research and contribute to society through expressing their opinions and views through Q sorting with picture cards. Picture-card Q Sorting (PQS) is particularly relevant in research contexts involving children as well as in child practice in education and therapy. Given that children often learn through pictures and use all their senses, PQS is considered an especially child-friendly, playful research and teaching method. This chapter provides advice to the researcher to consider the children’s embodied reactions, ensure a secure research environment, and follow the Q sorting with interviews for information to assist in the interpretation of the data analysis. Studies utilizing PQS are illustrated as promising outcomes in facilitating children’s expressions of thoughts and emotions.
