Hemorrhoids are usually caused by increased pressure around the anal canal and alteration of the venous drainage of the anal canal. Hemorrhoids are classified into internal and external hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are common in adults but relatively rare in children. The treatment of hemorrhoids in children is conservative and rarely and only in advanced cases, surgery is recommended. This chapter discusses the etiology, classification and treatment of hemorrhoids.
