The effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the education system and learners was palpable. It was considered to be ‘…the most significant disruption of education systems in human history, affecting nearly 1.6 billion learners in more than 200 countries’ (Pokhrel and Chhetri in High Educ Future 8:133–141, [12]) cited in (Gopika and Rekha in Int J Educ Reform, 105678792311733, [5]):2). In response to the pandemic, the closure of schools, institutions, and other learning spaces brought about significant changes in educational delivery methods and student learning impacting more than 94% of the world's student population (Pokhrel and Chhetri in High Educ Future 8:133–141, [12]). By the same token it also ushered in innovative strategies to support remote learning thereby transforming education and creating new opportunities for knowledge access and equity across the learning community. With the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) becoming mainstream and accessible, it is now part of the e-learning pedagogy creating opportunities for enhanced student engagement and AI literacy. This chapter focuses on the development of e-learning strategies to support public health education in post-secondary institutions as well as support adult learning, workforce development and lifelong learning.
