The chapter examines the most relevant classes of combinatory systems based on the nature of the macro-behavior or macro-effect they produce—Systems of Accumulation, Systems of Diffusion, Systems of Pursuit, Systems of Order, Systems of Improvement and Progress—presenting for each class a sample of very interesting phenomena that can be interpreted in terms of combinatory systems. To make immediately clear the modus operandi of the various classes of systems, the respective heuristic and graphical models will be presented to explain the rules that allow the system to function and that produce its dynamics.
