Use of the robotic surgery platform has seen unprecedented growth, requiring surgical residency programs, academic institutions, and community hospitals to develop training curricula and credentialing policies. However, despite this overwhelming need, no standardized curriculum or programmatic guidelines exist. Here, we discuss the key elements of a robotic surgery program to train future and currently practicing surgeons, support continued skill development, and ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes through credentialing and maintenance policies.
