Due to the numerous technological advantages of robotic technology—such as binocular three-dimensional visualization, enhanced magnification, wristed instruments with increased degrees of freedom, tremor filtration, and scaled motion, that amplify surgical precision and facilitate the transition from open to minimally invasive surgery—robotic-assisted thoracic surgery (RATS) has gained wide acceptance. This is particularly true in such high-stakes procedures as pulmonary lobectomy. Current data demonstrate that RATS enables surgeons to achieve proficiency faster than video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and is associated with lower perioperative risks and complications. Despite higher initial costs, RATS has been demonstrated to be economically advantageous in high-volume centers. Latest generation robotic platforms, such as the da Vinci Single-Port (SP) and DV5 systems, promise to further enhance minimally invasive thoracic surgeries by offering alternative access points and improved surgical safety. SP RATS combines the benefits of robotic technology with the efficiency of a single incision approach. Innovations, such as virtual haptic feedback and three-dimensional imaging overlay during real-time intraoperative video are expected to further improve surgical precision and outcomes. As robotic technology continues to evolve, these advancements are likely to expand the capabilities of robotic surgeons, transforming thoracic surgery and leading to better patient outcomes. Overall, robotic lobectomy stands out as a state-of-the-art method that merges the advantages of minimally invasive thoracic surgery with the precision of robotic technology, providing enhanced outcomes for lung resections.

摘要
