This chapter analyzes WH-questions as topic proposing strategies. It is shown that they operate in similar ways interactionally as the yes/no questions discussed in the previous chapter, although some minor differences are apparent. Special attention is paid to “what about” questions as a separate functional category.

This chapter analyzes WH-questions as topic proposing strategies.
