Cold Rolling of Double T-Profiles
摘要
Double T-profiles with different cross-sectional shapes are widely used as steel beams in steel construction, for example in civil, plant and mechanical engineering. The reason for this is their high bending strength and rigidity combined at a comparatively low weight. These double T-profiles are predominantly hot-rolled, but other manufacturing processes exist, although these often require joining operations which have a negative effect on the profile strength. Known disadvantages of hot rolling encompass high energy consumption, lower surface quality due to scale formation and lower dimensional accuracy due to shrinkage during cooling. The sheet-bulk metal forming process "linear flow splitting" made it possible for the first time to cold-roll integral branched profiles. However, the cross-sectional shape of the profile is limited to double Y-profiles, which are not widely used in industry. This paper shows the first realized forming strategy for the production of integral cold-rolled double T-profiles. Both numerical and experimental results are shown. The focus of the investigations is to compare the forming strategy, surface quality, dimensional accuracy and forming forces with the well-known linear flow splitting forming process.
