Industry is a significant partner in radiology influencing the technological advancement of both software and hardware in the field. Manufacturers are a source of physician support, education, and funding for further product development and refinement. Guiding principles for interactions between physicians and industry partners have been detailed by many groups, including the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Council for Medical Specialty Societies, and individual institutions and practices. Additionally, the Physician Payments Sunshine Act requires reporting of payments and other transactions to medical professionals for public disclosure. These policies and laws aim to minimize the risk of developing bias, whether conscious or unconscious. As patient advocates, we as physicians must be objective in assessing and using various products to ensure we provide the most appropriate care.
