Enhancing Cultural Awareness and Tourist Visitations to South Korea and Its Cultural Sites Through Historical Dramas
摘要
This study investigates how viewing Korean historical TV dramas featuring cultural and historical locations influences viewers’ intentions to visit Korea and the depicted sites. Utilizing survey data from 222 respondents and insights from 13 semi-structured interviews, it explores the interplay between featured locations, place attachment, and visitation intentions, while also examining the role of cultural awareness. The findings reinforce film-induced tourism’s premise, emphasizing the significance of visually memorable and novel locations over narrative elements. While viewers may not always prioritize visiting the exact sites shown in dramas, the study reveals that these dramas effectively inspire broader interest in exploring similar historical and cultural attractions, contributing to enhanced cultural appreciation and tourism motivation.
