Renewable energy technologies are crucial to address climate change and meet the continuously rising global energy demand. However, their supply chain might pose serious environmental threats for stakeholders to consider, potentially offsetting their key objective of mitigating the environmental issues associated with fossil energy‒coal, oil, and natural gas. This paper aims to comprehensively overview green supply chain practices within the literature of renewable energy civil systems. Initially, we introduce the potential of green supply chain management to minimise the ecological impact of renewable energy technologies. Next, we explore green supply chain management practices through applications in the civil engineering field and focus on the renewable energy supply chain, encompassing associated challenges with its three main life stages, namely: manufacturing, operational life, and end-of-life. As such, our contribution provides valuable insights for stakeholders and researchers keen on refining the sustainability of the supply chain for renewable energy civil systems.
