[Objective] In order to investigate the vegetation community characteristics and soil physical properties of artificial Hippophae rhamnoides forest with different restoration years (CK, 3a, 6a and 11a) in Shuanglonggou abandoned mining area, the artificial Hippophae rhamnoides forest was selected as the research object. [Methods] The spatial and temporal substitution method was used to analyze the characteristics of vegetation community and soil physical properties in different restoration years. [Results] The results showed that: (1) During the restoration of 11a, 65 species of plants appeared in 24 families, 48 genera, and 11 families were single families, single genera, and single species. The composition of vegetation species was as follows: most species belonged to minority family, and few species belonged to the majority families; (2) With the extension of repair years, the dominant species of the community gradually evolved from annual or perennial herbs to perennial herbs or bushes, and Hippophae rhamnoides, Leontopodium ochroleucum, Potentilla fruticosa and Poa annua became the dominant species of the community, and the sum of important values of the four plants reached 44.55; Simpson dominance index showed the trend of “first rise~then decline~then rise”. Max reached 0.277 while fixing 3a. Shannon diversity index and Pielou evenness index showed a trend of “first decline~then rising~then decline”. When 6a was repaired, Shannon diversity index reached the maximum value of 3.286, and Pielou evenness index reached the maximum value of 0.761. (3) With the extension of restoration years, soil water content showed an increasing trend, and reached the maximum value of 12.263, 9.798 and 8.797% at 11 years of restoration, respectively. Soil bulk density and particle size showed a trend of continuous decline, and soil particles gradually developed in the direction of thinning. (4) The number of plant individuals and Shannon diversity index were positively correlated with soil water content. Plant individual number, plant species number and Margalef richness index were negatively correlated with soil bulk density and particle size. There was a significant negative correlation between Pielou evenness index and water content. [Conclusion] It can be seen that with the extension of restoration years, vegetation community characteristics and soil quality have been significantly optimized, which promotes the restoration of ecosystems in the abandoned mining areas.
