Trumpets, Cornets and Flugelhorns
摘要
This chapter discusses three instruments often played by a single musician: trumpets, cornets and flugelhorns. The anatomy of a typical instrument and the functioning of the brass instrument valve are concisely explained. Further kinds of trumpet are considered: piccolo trumpets, bass trumpets, natural trumpets and valve trumpets used in historically informed performance. A concluding section explores the acoustical properties of commonly used mutes for trumpets and other brass instruments.
