The Mexican bio-series broadcast by Televisa in 2019, Silvia Pinal, frente a ti, was the most watched series of the year. Examining a print tribute from 2021, this chapter argues that Pinal, a then living link to Golden Age cinema who would die in 2024, was a unique multiplatform star: in film (famously for Buñuel), television, and theatre. The chapter charts the rise of the bio-series genre in Mexico and suggests that it both projects out onto urgent social issues and reflects back on the entertainment industry. Finally, the chapter gives an account of the series’ production and reception and offers a close reading of three episodes.
