Integral Arch Bridges - Analysis of Literature Published in German Language
摘要
The paper presents arch bridges that are representing the recent class of integral bridges as described in literature published in German language. The view to the past shows that historic arch structures made of natural stone, early iron or early concrete can—according to the modern definition—be classified as semi-integral or integral arch bridges. On the other side, sophisticated details as expansion joints or bearings in some types of modern 20th century arch bridges may deteriorate faster than historic bridges. Today’s bridge engineers offer a solution for maintenance reduction in joint-less or integral arch bridges with more simple details. Aim of the paper is looking back to advantages of historic arch bridges, give short insight in different definitions in the German speaking countries Germany, Austria and Switzerland and look forward by presenting some modern integral or semi-integral arch bridges.
