Social media is an important part in the lives of people across all age groups. The increase adoption of social media has raised concerns as it determines the perception of one’s body image and self-esteem. The aim was to understand the relationship of social media usage on perceived body image and self-esteem, and the impact it has on gender and age. A convenient sampling method was employed, focusing specifically on males and middle-aged adults. Data was collected from 400 participants comprising of 195 males and 205 females between the age range of 19–60 years, through an online questionnaire. The tools implemented were the Objectified Body Consciousness Scale, Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale, and Social Media Usage Scale. The findings indicate that there is no relation between social media usage, perceived body image and self-esteem among young and middle-aged adults.
