Municipal solid waste management (MSWM) poses a significant challenge for the Kingdom of Bahrain and is considered detrimental to the country. Available data indicates a substantial increase in the quantity of generated waste over recent years, including various types such as household, commercial, industrial, construction, agricultural, and more. This study employed methods such as observation, interviews, and questionnaires to analyze MSWM. The results revealed that population growth and economic factors are the primary contributors to the high volume of waste. Additionally, there is a lack of advanced methods and technologies for waste treatment and disposal, raising concerns about the impact on the environment and human health. Consequently, there is a need to explore alternative approaches to develop a more sustainable MSWM system in Bahrain for the future.
