Towards a Practical Digital Twin: A Multi-Model AI-Driven Approach for Manufacturing
摘要
The concept of a digital twin, despite its promise for revolutionizing manufacturing, remains shrouded in ambiguity due to a lack of consensus on its definition. This paper shifts the focus from theoretical debates to a practical implementation of digital twins in manufacturing. We challenge the notion of a monolithic digital twin and propose a mini-multi-model architecture, where AI-driven “mini-digital twins” are created to provide specific services. This architecture is embodied in our software “Plexasync,” which enables the collection of real-time data from industrial networks, generates interactive HMIs, and facilitates the development of AI-driven mini-digital twins. Plexasync, currently in development, demonstrates the feasibility of our approach. This modular and plug-and-play system offers a cost-effective solution for small and medium-sized enterprises to harness the power of digital twins and drive innovation in their operations.
