The exploration of potential ecological paraffin and wax-degrading bacterial strains has garnered significant attention within the field of environmental biotechnology due to the increasing need for sustainable solutions to environmental pollution. Paraffin and wax, both of which are hydrocarbons, are widely used in various industries, and their accumulation in the environment can lead to detrimental ecological impacts. These substances are often resistant to natural degradation, making them persistent pollutants in many ecological settings. This chapter discusses the characterization of selected bacterial strains that have demonstrated exceptional efficacy in hydrocarbon remediation processes, with a particular focus on paraffin and wax degradation. The bacteria’s ability to break down these complex hydrocarbons is not only a testament to their unique metabolic pathways but also highlights their potential as bioremediation agents.
