Selectively Isolated Biodegradable Bacteria for Deprivation of Organic Deposits in Oil and Gas Industries

This chapter addresses organic deposit (or cumulose) secondary deposits that accumulate as a product primarily formed by the potential of the direct or indirect vital roles played by plant and animals remains and were preserved intact by a high-water table or by another circumstances preventing decomposition. The most common type of organic deposits includes coal, lignite, oil shale. In this we will mainly discuss about the organic deposit of oil and gas industries and their deprivation by biodegradable bacteria, oil and Gas are formed from organic materials mainly deposited as sediments on the seabed and broken-down and transformed over millions of years. Oil and gas extraction is a process that refers to the exploration and production of petroleum and natural gas from wells by method known as drilling. The formation of organic deposit is resulted by the precipitate of heavy hydrocarbons when temperature or pressure is reduced. These deposits are commonly located in the perforation or tubing. The injection of cold treating fluid promotes the formation of organic deposit such as petroleum, paraffins or asphaltenes. The deprivation of such organic deposit can be performed through various biodegradable bacteria that are prevalent in nature and may use these substances as a source of carbon and energy. Some bacteria can absorb specific alkanes, while others break down aromatic or resin fractions of hydrocarbons. Studies have identified bacteria from more than 79 genera that are capable of degrading organic deposit of oil and gas industries; several of these bacteria such as Achromobacter, Acinetobacter, Alteromonas, Arthrobacter, Burkolderia, Dietzia, Enterobacter, Mycobacterium, Pandoraea, Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus, Streptobacillus. Biodegradation of organic deposit occur under anaerobic and aerobic conditions.
