Enhancing Data Security and Sustainability Using a Modified AES for an Energy-Efficient Cryptography
摘要
This chapter presents a detailed description of the steps required for encrypting and decrypting information using a modified Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm, suitable for transmission over wireless communication channels. As a cryptographic algorithm, that can be implemented with various optimizations that help conserve energy and reduce the carbon footprint of IT systems, ultimately contributing to environmental sustainability. This includes minimizing power consumption, reducing waste heat, and optimizing the use of renewable energy sources. As a symmetric encryption algorithm, is widely used for securing data, being notable for its speed, security, and efficiency, making it a popular choice for both software and hardware encryption. It is a basis of modern encryption technology, providing a robust and efficient method for securing digital information. The modifications made to the AES algorithm seek to improve the data transfer rate by reducing the complexity of the required hardware resources and increasing the transfer speed without sacrificing the security of the transmitted data. This makes the modified algorithm an ideal choice for implementation in innovative wireless communication technologies, such as visible light communication (VLC), that prioritize high transfer rates but often have limited hardware resources.
