Virtue
摘要
In this chapter, we start by exploring the concept of virtue. We discuss moral virtues and intellectual virtues and consider some of the educational implications for taking these to be important to the well-lived life. If we are aiming at education for flourishing, then helping to cultivate moral and intellectual virtues as well as practical reason (phronesis) is vital to ensure children and young people become adults who may flourish. While character education is often considered the most significant manner in which such an aim may be achieved, our practical example considers whether teaching ethics in schools using dialogical pedagogy is a valuable form of moral education that may help cultivate virtuous people.
