As described in Chapter 1 , our approach to the main conjugacy problems for classical groups splits naturally into the analysis of the unipotent and semisimple classes. In this chapter and the next we solve the conjugacy problems for unipotent classes in classical groups. We address the classical groups in good characteristic in this chapter and the bad characteristic cases in the next.
