Value Cocreation in Big Data Value Networks: Identifying and Analyzing the Interdependency of Actors and Roles
摘要
In today’s manufacturing industry, servitization and the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies have emerged as key drivers of competitive advantage. This chapter explores how the integration of cloud computing, big data analytics, and smart manufacturing technologies facilitates value cocreation within big data value networks, improving strategic and organizational capabilities. Through a detailed single case study of a technology service provider (TSP) specializing in predictive maintenance solutions in the North Brabant region of the Netherlands and utilizing data collected through surveys and interviews, we explain the complex relationship between technology providers, manufacturing firms, and end users. Our analysis reveals that effective collaboration, founded in a mutual understanding of needs and value drivers, optimizes value creation across the network. Key findings highlight the role of digital servitization in generating intangible assets, such as technological know-how and relational capital, which are critical for sustaining a competitive edge. The study emphasizes the importance of aligning value propositions across network actors to bring out the full potential of big data and advanced technologies in the manufacturing domain. By providing an in-depth analysis of the TSP’s case and its interactions within the value network, this chapter contributes to a deeper understanding of the mechanisms underlying value cocreation in the context of Industry 4.0.
