The successful implementation of a point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) program requires more than just an appropriately trained clinician and an ultrasound machine. From machine accessories to procedural guidance supplies, a diverse array of ultrasound-related materials are necessary for the efficient functioning of a POCUS program. Supplies that are essential to a POCUS program include ultrasound gel, probe covers, and disinfecting wipes and/or sprays. Devices that perform high-level disinfection may also be required. Depending on the needs of the program, additional consideration should be given to accessories that will improve workflow efficiency, such as barcode scanners. Moreover, the cost of these devices and accessories are an important part of preparation and budgeting for establishing or maintaining a POCUS program.
