Followership
摘要
Followership is the processes by which people follow, who they follow, and how much engagement and influence they exert. Followership is a skill that should be taught just as leadership is. There are several models to describe followership, the most common being a matrix on a continuum of critical thinking and engagement as described by Robert Kelley. Ineffective followership can be a patient safety issue as well as lead to healthcare burnout. Techniques are described in this chapter to improve followership and teamwork structure, including the effective followership algorithm, the two challenge rule, and the CUS and CHAT model. By utilizing these strategies, teamwork dynamic can be improved, including performance outcomes, job satisfaction as well as patient safety.
