Telemedicine and Future Innovation
摘要
Most trauma systems serve a heterogeneous population consisting of some combination of dense urban centers combined with vast, sparsely populated rural environments. To achieve the centralization of trauma care at large trauma centers, trauma systems require elaborate transport protocols each with their own unique patient, climate, and geographical considerations. Telemedicine and telepresence offer opportunities for remote triage and perhaps even remote patient care potentially reducing costly transport of stable patients and leading to more efficient transport and treatment of more critically injured patients. These technologies and potential future applications are discussed in this chapter.
