Successful execution of emergency critical care procures requires integrated knowledge of indications, contraindications, equipment, procedural steps, common pitfalls, and complications. The purpose of this chapter is to provide an integrated approach to emergency critical care procedures including surgical airway management, vascular access, tube thoracostomy, resuscitative thoracotomy, and diagnostic peritoneal lavage. Individual and team dynamics during emergency procedures are also discussed.
