The optimal construction and “setup” of a new operating environment requires a multidisciplinary team with expertise in clinical care, physical construction, human factor analysis, and resource allocation. These challenges are particularly highlighted in the design and implementation of hybrid operating environments focused on the arrest of ongoing hemorrhage in our most critically injured patients. This chapter discusses design, team construction, hybrid operating environment-specific issues, hybrid lexicon, and associated patient outcomes.
