The body of a strangled woman, found in a duvet cover, stained with a light gray and black soil prompted an investigation of what the stains were. Through comparison to the rear stairs, flat roof and footwear of a suspect, and exclusion from the body deposition site and local samples, an association between the duvet cover and the suspect was made. Millimeter-sized gray curls of metalliferous paint in dark stains from the duvet and exterior of the suspect’s home were noted. A seizure of a re-painted satellite dish from outside the suspect’s flat suggested a source for the paint curls. Some conjecture is made on how these items may have connected is made.
