摘要

This study employs an autoethnographic methodology, diverging from traditional interview-based or qualitative observational approaches. Unlike studies cantered on hypotheses to be tested, it presents a deeply personal account of the author’s experiences during forced migration following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. As such, its significance is subjective, evolving over time and with each individual reader’s interpretation. The narrative highlights themes of resilience, adaptation, and academic engagement in a dramatically changed environment. After being compelled to migrate to Poland while eight months pregnant, the author’s primary concern was the safety of her unborn child. This chapter details her adaptation to life in Poland, including living with a Polish family, navigating medical and social systems for migrants, and pursuing academic collaborations. Over the year, the author progressed from no knowledge of Polish to intermediate proficiency, enhancing her career prospects as her child began attending a Polish nursery school.
