Enhancing Linguocultural Competence Through Active Learning Approach
摘要
One of the most complex and important tasks of modern professional higher education is to increase the effectiveness of intercultural communication through the competence-based approach. In the present investigation, we set out to explore the effect of the case-study method on the improvement of the linguocultural competence of future foreign language teachers. Using a mixed method pre-/post-questionnaire design, we examine how future foreign language teachers perceive linguocultural competence as well as the method applied during the experiment for its development. The findings of the study demonstrate that the case-study method has great potential for the enhancement of the intercultural and communicative and, in particular, linguocultural competence of students. The conclusions contribute to the development of active teaching methods in vocational education with a special focus on the formation of linguocultural competence. The materials of the article will be useful for teachers of English for specific purposes in the sphere of professional higher education.
