Citizenship Education and the Formation of Citizenship in the Digital Age
摘要
This chapter explores elements of citizenship that shape one’s identity as a digital citizen. The first part of the chapter will discuss the concept of citizenship and the emergence and evolution of new discourses of citizenship. The second section will examine different understandings of civic education. The third section will analyze the notion of digital citizenship and discuss the various interpretations of this concept. The concluding section will argue that advancing democratic citizenship education in ultra-digitalized times requires educators to be attuned to the dynamics of dominant discourses of citizenship and nurture a nuanced understanding of digital citizenship.
