The Training of Psychologists in Paraguay: Historical, Curricular, and Conceptual Dimensions

This chapter addresses the training of psychologists in Paraguay from its beginnings to the present time. Its focus is primarily historical and presents the evolution of psychology teaching both at the high school level and in teacher training, the beginnings of psychology programs, the main areas of professional training, the laws governing university education, the increase in the number of graduates in recent years and the problems that persist in psychologist’s education. It also discusses the relationship between psychology and the country's cultural context. Finally, it outlines possible future trends that psychology could take in the near future. The work is based on an analysis of primary and secondary sources relevant to the topic under discussion.
